Classes

We are pleased to announce that Laura Bryant, owner of Prism Yarn and colorist extraordinaire, will be our instructor for the retreat. ( Laura is featured in the current Knit'N Style magazine.) She will be offering two classes. (Fees for both of these classes are covered in the retreat cost).

On Saturday she will be teaching Color Your Knitting. Laura will show you how to achieve rich vibrant color combinations that sing. In this six hour class knitting extravaganza devoted to color you will learn to train your eyes so that you never see color the same way again. There will be lot of hands-on swatching with Laura’s yarns. Her favorite techniques which she will be demonstrating are simple stitches that create unique fabrics. All you need is an open mind and a supply of knitting needles from 3 to 11 ( three or four sizes are fine).

Sunday’s class will concentrate on knitting with hand dyed yarns. We often love hand dyes in skein form but are disappointed when we knit them. Learn specific techniques for coaxing maximum beauty from your hand dyes including eliminating striping, pooling and patterning and how to use these traits to best advantage. This class is suitable for intermediate knitters and all you need is a supply of three or four needles ranging from 3 to ll. If you desire to try this technique on a shawl or scarf you will be able to purchase yarn for it at the retreat.
